Give Help
Volunteer
Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.
Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.
Coordinator – Fakenham Foodbank (approx 6 hours/week)
This role involves contributing to the smooth running of Fakenham Foodbank, supporting volunteers, housekeeping and liaising with the Operations Manager during and around food bank sessions. Ideally, you will need to be available most Monday mornings and Thursday afternoons when the food bank is open. Please email Suzanne at [email protected] if you are interested in applying for this position.
Helping at a foodbank centre
You will meet clients and give out food parcels, perhaps having an informal chat with clients over a cup of tea, to discuss their situation and signpost to further support. If you are comfortable using technology, you may be trained to use the food bank tablet to process food parcel voucher codes.
Warehouse volunteers
We currently need a volunteer to help collect donations from local supermarkets and deliver food parcels to distribution centres. This is a predominantly Dereham-based role and you will need to be willing to lift and carry parcels and have a full driving licence to drive our food bank van.
We sometimes need help weighing and sorting donated food and making up food parcels for clients to collect.
Voucher coordinator
Foodbanks work with front line agencies who in turn refer clients to foodbanks. We have more than 80 referral partners and in this role you will be coordinating the issuing and distribution of vouchers to these agencies. Once the vouchers are redeemed the data they contain needs to be added to our central database. Full training and support is available (please note that this role is currently filled).
If you are interested in volunteering please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you!
